                       How Maui Slows The Sun😀😀

By, Lexi, Shantelle and Dareeya.

Over the last two weeks, my group were focusing on the myth: How Maui Slows The Sun.                                                     How Maui Slows Sun Video!

I hope you like the video!!!!!!!!

Script
Shantelle:When Maui was a little boy.

Lexi:Te Ra used to sprint across the blue sky so fast
that there was no time to do any work before dark.

Shantelle: One day,Maui’s mother, Taranga, asked him if he could slow the sun down and make days last longer.

Lexi: After thinking for weeks on end, Maui decided on a clever plan.

Shantelle: Maui set all the women in village to weave some long ropes of flax called harakeke.

Lexi: Next he and his brothers took the harakeke to the edge of the world, where Te-Ra went to sleep each night to  sleep.
Shantelle:Maui and his brothers used the harakeke to make a snare to trap Te-Ra.

Lexi: When Te-Ra leaped from his sleeping place and shone brightly,

Shantelle:But maui and his brothers were ready for him

Lexi: Maui shouted the signal and his brothers pulled hard and Te -Ra’s head got tangled in the ropes.

Shantelle: Te-Ra pleaded with mercy to Maui, but Maui took no notice of cries and whipped out his magic fishhook and hit Maui on the head.

Lexi:Te-ra screamed in pain as Maui hit him again and again mercilessly.

Shantelle: And when Maui stopped hitting Te-Ra, Maui told Te-Ra to travel more slowly across the sky so Maui and the villagers can finish their work before dark.

Lexi: Te-Ra seemed surprised to hear that he was traveling too fast, but still Te-Ra kept his side of the promise and Maui hit Te-Ra on the head again to keep his promise and Maui and his brothers let go of the harakeke.

Shantelle: Te-Ra slowly but surely he rose into the sky.Te-Ra has kept his promise by traveling slowly ever since, sharing his heat and light for many hours each day before he sinks down below the edge of the world to rest.

Lexi: So next time you're enjoying yourself in the sunshine, remember to thank Maui for making our days longer and warmer.

  1. Dareeya, ask Lexi and Shantelle how they got the film to show on their blog. It would be wonderful if everyone who visits your blog could see the film too.
